CBS Sports Projects Boston College vs. Maryland in the Quick Lane Bowl

Renewing hostilities with the Terps?

NCAA Football: Boston College at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

So far, speculation about Boston College’s bowl destination has centered around three cities: Shreveport, St. Petersburg, and Detroit. With three bowl projections posted so far this week, we’ve seen all three covered.

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm’s bowl projections are out for this week, and he has BC heading to Detroit on December 26 to take on Maryland in the Quick Lane Bowl. The Terps are a familiar foe to the Eagles, formerly an ACC opponent before leaving for the Big Ten.

Maryland, like BC, went 6-6 this season, firming up their bowl eligibility by beating Rutgers yesterday. Maryland started the season 2-0, but went on a 2-6 slide down the stretch, including heavy defeats at the hands of Michigan, Ohio State, Minnesota and Nebraska. Frankly, the parallel between the two teams are striking, aside from the fact that BC had to close strong to get in to bowl season rather than start strong.

Of note: CBS has USF as the ACC's opponent in St. Pete, but against Wake; they have NC State in the Independence Bowl, against Kentucky. BC, Wake and NC State are pretty much guaranteed to be the bottom three teams in the ACC bowl pecking order, so signs are pointing more and more toward one of those three bowls. It looks like all three have the potential to give BC an interesting matchup to end the season.
