As the rest of the football world talks about deflating footballs, Boston College fans can celebrate another piece of hardware for linebacker Luke Kuechly.
The soon-to-be Boston College graduate won his second Dick Butkus Award, this time he was named the top linebacker in the NFL. The tackling machine had a monster 2014-15 season with 153 tackles for the Carolina Panthers, along with twelve pass break ups and one interception. Clearly after the past two seasons Luke Kuechly has become a household name, and not only that he has become one of the top linebackers in the NFL.
The Butkus Award is given out at three levels, the pros, college and in high school. Luke joins two other linebackers (Von Miller and Patrick Willis) as the only players to win this award at the college level and in the pros. Manti Te'o won the award as well but in college and in high school.
Congratulations to Luke Kuechly, it's been a lot of fun to watch him grow as a professional, and we look forward to what you are going to do in the future. Soar!
