Well, isn't this topical ...
One day after Ohio State canceled a home-and-home football series with North Carolina citing the Big Ten's nine game conference schedule, the Buckeyes officially announced the move of the BC-Ohio State series from 2020 and 2021 to 2023 and 2024.
Ohio State and Boston College have agreed to move their two-game series from 2020 and 2021 to 2023 and 2024, respectively. The two teams will meet on Sept. 9, 2023 in Columbus and the following year on Labor Day, Sept. 2, at Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The two schools had originally agreed to meet in Columbus on September 19, 2020 and in Chestnut Hill on September 18, 2021. The shifting of the series shouldn't come as much of a surprise however. Late last year a leaked Big Ten scheduling document listed BC-Ohio State for 2023 and 2024, not 2020-21, so you had to figure something was up. At least now we have concrete dates in place so that you can plan your fall social calendars around this series ... 9-10 years in advance.
The Eagles and Buckeyes have met three times previously -- all Ohio State wins. The two programs squared off in a home-and-home during the 1989 (34-29 loss in Columbus) and 1990 (31-10 loss in Chestnut Hill) seasons, as well as in the 1995 Kickoff Classic in the Meadowlands, a 38-6 Ohio State blowout.
Boston College's future non-conference schedule now looks like this:
2015 -- Notre Dame (11/21 at Fenway Park), Army?, Buffalo?, New Mexico State?
2016 -- UMass (9/17), Buffalo?
2017 -- Notre Dame, Richmond
2018 -- UMass (9/1), Holy Cross (9/8)
2019 --
2020 -- Holy Cross (9/5)
2021 --
2022 --
2023 -- at Ohio State (9/9)
2024 -- Ohio State (9/2)
