Boston College vs. Virginia Tech: BCI Radio's Live at 8 PM!

Gobble gobble, Eagles fans. It's time to talk turkey about BC's bowl chances.

Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

With their win over Wake Forest, Boston College jumped back into the win column, and their 5-3 record has them on the cusp of bowl eligibility for the second straight year.

It's onto Virginia Tech.

On Saturday, a still-dangerous and possibly desperate Hokies team will host the Eagles in a rivalry that's bordered on bitter throughout their recent history. It was during last season when we realized how good BC could be in a victory at home against this team. Now it's Virginia Tech's turn to try and prove doubters wrong, at home, in danger of everything falling apart.

There's much to love about this matchup. Both teams are certainly capable of playing well, but both are flawed in some capacity. Both lost games they probably could have or should have won. BC gave everyone a scare last week, but Virginia Tech is a team that could really use a convincing victory. The Eagles are trying to claw into the ACC's upper tier, an unlikely landing spot given preseason prognostications, while the Hokies are trying to avoid definitively winding up in the cellar of the wide open Coastal Division.
