Boston College Vs. Villanova: Eagles Open As An 17.5-Point Favorite Over The Wildcats

Boston College opened the week as a 17 1/2-point favorite over the Villanova Wildcats.

Game week is upon us. Congratulations, we made it!

After having suffered through an excruciatingly long offseason, your Boston College football Eagles return to action this weekend as they host the Villanova Wildcats. To their credit, Villanova is one of the better teams in college football's lower division, but Vegas still sees the Eagles winning comfortably.

Boston College opened the week as a 17 1/2-point favorite over the Wildcats, though you may be hard-pressed to find actionable lines on FBS vs. FCS games. That doesn't seems like all that large of a point spread, at least as far as FBS vs. FCS games go. I suppose that's what happens when an FBS team coming off a 2-10 season faces off against an FCS team coming off an 8-4 one.

And even if you can't put actual money on this game (gambling is bad, kids, etc. etc.), this does give us some gauge as to what oddsmakers think of this weekend's matchup between two old Catholic foes.

Other opening weekend lines of note: North Carolina (+11 1/2) at South Carolina, USC (-21 1/2) at Hawaii, Presbyterian at Wake Forest (-30), Morgan State at Army (-30), Louisiana Tech at N.C. State (-10 1/2), FIU at Maryland (-21), Alabama vs. Virginia Tech (+20), Penn State vs. Syracuse (+8), Georgia at Clemson (+2), Florida State (-10) at Pittsburgh.

Feels good to be talking college football again. Let's do this for the next four-to-five months, shall we?
