Boston College Football To Host Maine In 2015, Per Report

Boston College will host FCS Maine for the second straight year in 2015, according to Maine coach Jack Cosgrove and 92.9 The Ticket's Rich Kimball.

According to 92.9 The Ticket's Rich Kimball, the voice of Maine Black Bear football, Boston College is set to host the FCS Maine Black Bears for the second straight year in 2015.

Neither school has yet to confirm the game and no date has been set, but my guess is a Labor Day weekend home game on September 5.

The opponent makes sense. Maine was one of the few CAA teams that had yet to publicly announce a game against an FBS opponent in 2015. Since the NCAA altered the rules allowing one FBS-FCS game a year to count towards bowl eligibility in 2006, BC has played a team from the CAA every season with one exception (2010 Weber State).

Maine served as the Eagles' annual FCS opponent this past season. Boston College won 40-10. The Eagles and Black Bears have met three times since the divisional split in 2006, 2012 and 2014—all BC victories. BC owns a 5-3 edge in a series that dates back to 1913.

Though the status of New Mexico State's return trip to the Heights still seems a bit up-in-the-air, BC-Maine would complete the Eagles' 2015 non-conference schedule at this time. Boston College has non-conference home games against Northern Illinois (Sept. 26) and New Mexico State (Oct. 17) to go with a "road" game against Notre Dame at Fenway Park (Nov. 21).
