Boston College Football: Get To Know The Dudes - #92, DL Kevin Cohee

Former two-sport athlete at Roxbury Latin stays close to home and joins the Eagles

Name: Kevin Cohee

Position: Defensive Line

Number: #92

Year: Freshman

Height: 6-foot-2

Weight: 245 lbs.

Hometown: West Roxbury, MA

High School: Roxbury Latin

2013 Stats (HS): Twice earned All-Independent School League honors ... twice served as team captain ... registered 20 tackles, including one sack, and two interceptions ... recorded one interception returned for a touchdown ... played for head coach Patrick Ross ... also excelled on the lacrosse field. (bceagles.com)

2014 Projections: Cohee played linebacker in high school but is listed as a defensive lineman.  This leads me to believe he'll play a little bit of both.  As a DL, he would be a little bit undersized, but he's got monster size for the linebacker position.  20 seconds into his highlight reel prove why.

With decent speed, he could be the next BC linebacker after Steven Daniels to really cover up the middle of the field.  On a defense lacking in depth, the Eagles could really use him in third down pass coverage situations.  Putting him on the defensive line would allow for some surreal looks coming out of the Don Brown defense - imagine a DL fading back into coverage on a tight end while a linebacker sprints the gap.

How'd He Get Here: Recruited by both Frank Leonard and Kevin Lempa, Cohee chose Boston College over a bevy of northeast programs.  Also in the mix were Connecticut, Rutgers, and UMass.  NC State also gave him a sniff.  UConn gave Cohee his first offer before he ever visited BC, but he waited out the whole process before selecting the Eagles.

On Coming to BC: "This class is getting pretty ridiculous... it's something I wanted to be a part of." (@247sports on twitter)

Twitter Feed: N/A

Uniform History: #92 isn't exactly a well-worn digit, but the names who did bring back some memories.  Steve Jiordano wore the number as a tight end in the 70s, and Nick Gianackos wore it during the Dan Henning era.  The most recent to don 92 was Dillon Quinn.
