Name: Jarrett Darmstatter
Position: Tight End
Number: #82
Year: Senior
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 250 lbs.
Hometown: Barnegat, NJ
High School: Barnegat
2013 Stats: Saw action in each of the first three games of the season at fullback and tight end, but season was cut short after suffering an ankle injury in the USC game. Listed atop the depth chart at the fullback position for each of the first three games of the season
2014 Projections: Jarrett's role in the Eagles offense in 2014 is a bit unclear as he bounces back from an ankle injury that ended his junior season after just three games. When healthy, Darmstatter can feature prominently in the Eagles offense as either a pass-catching tight end or a run-blocking fullback. It was Darmstatter that filled the role for an injured Chris Pantale during fall camp prior to the start of the 2012 season. Addazio moved Darmstatter from TE to FB for last season's Villanova opener, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Darmstatter shift back to the Y along with Michael Giacone and Louie Addazio.
How'd He Get Here: A three-star tight end out of high school, Darmstatter chose the Eagles over a dozen claimed offers, including Florida State, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan State, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse and West Virginia. He eventually chose the Eagles over Purdue, citing proximity to family and academics as the reason for his commitment. Syracuse, Central Florida and Rutgers were also given consideration. Recruited by Mike Dawson.
What'd Recruiting Sites Say: Per ESPN ($): "Darmstatter is a tight end with good natural size. He does not have great height, but is tall enough and looks to carry good bulk on his frame with room to still grow. He is a solid receiving target best suited for the short-to-intermediate passing game." Scout.com's Bob Lichtenfels described his game thusly: "Darmstatter is more known for his exploits as a pass catching tight end than as a blocker. He is still a solid blocker at the point of attack, just not as devastating and consistent as Haplea and Barker. He is a force in the middle of the field; he will sit right in the hook/curl zone and plant himself there. He is definitely not afraid of contact."

Uniform History: Former BC great, tight end Pete Mitchell, famously wore the #82 jersey from 1991-94, captaining the Eagles his senior season. Mitchell set both BC's all-time (180) and single-game receptions (13, 1993 game vs. Notre Dame) records during his All-American playing career on the Heights. Another famous #82, WR Kelvin Martin, ranks among the program's best in career points, touchdowns and punt returns. Bridgeport, CT end Joseph Sikorski captained the Eagles wearing the #82 jersey during the 1961 season. Before Darmstatter, the number was worn by WR Justin Jarvis from 2007-09.
