Boston College Football: Get To Know The Dudes - #78, DL Harold Landry

Today, "Get to know" ... freshman defensive lineman Harold Landry.

Name: Harold Landry

Position: Defensive lineman

Number: #78

Year: Freshman

Height: 6-foot-2

Weight: 255 lbs.

Hometown: Fayetteville, NC

High School: Pine Forest HS

2013 Stats (High School): Landry was a force for Pine Forest during his senior year. Earned AP All-State and first-team all-conference honors in 2013. Named the 2013 Mid-South Defensive Player of the Year. Tallied second-team all-conference honors in 2012. Finished the 2013 season with 96 tackles, including 78 solo tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and 17 sacks. His athleticism allowed coaches to line him up at different positions on the field. Landry also grabbed 21 catches for 285 yards lining up as a tight end, and even threw a completion (1-of-2) for 12 yards.

2014 Projections: Landry enrolled early, allaying Eagles fans fears of him spurning the Eagles for a higher profile program on National Signing Day. Out of the entire freshman class, Landry is one of the few players that can make an impact from day 1. The Eagles are dangerously thin and inexperienced on the defensive line, giving Landry the opportunity for early playing time. Landry has the skillset to thrive in Don Brown's pressure defensive schemes.

How'd He Get Here: A Rivals/ESPN 4* recruit out of high school, Landry chose Boston College over claimed offers from Auburn, Appalachian State, Citadel, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Miami, Mississippi, Missouri, N.C. State, Ohio State and South Carolina. Recruited by Al Washington.

Uniform History: Less than a dozen former Eagles have worn the #78 jersey; most recently by offensive guard Thomas Claiborne from 2008-10. OG Augie Hoffmann (Parkridge, NJ) was an anchor of the Eagles early 2000s offensive lines, serving as captain his senior season (2003).
