Boston College Football: Get To Know The Dudes - #48, DL Nick Lifka

Today get to know DL Nick Lifka

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Nick Lifka

Position: Defensive Lineman

Number: #48

Year: Junior

Height: 6 foot2

Weight: 272  lbs.

Hometown: Naperville, Illinois

High School: Naperville North High School

2013 Stats: Lifka, who played mostly defensive end, began to see action in the second half of the season in 2013, playing in four games, recording 6 tackles, four of them solo, along with a half a tackle for loss against New Mexico State

2014 Projections: With the graduation of Kasim Edebali and Kaleb Ramsey, I would think that the defensive end position would be Lifka's for the taking. However if he isn't impressive during spring ball, look to see true freshmen Harold Landry stealing some snaps over him. Either way, Lifka will be playing in some capacity every week on the defensive side of the ball.

How'd He Get Here: Lifka was actually a pretty celebrated recruit for Spaz, coming in as a 3* linebacker in 2011. He held offers from LSU, Army, Duke, Connecticut, Iowa St, Vanderbilt, Minnesota and Iowa. He was considered the 44th ranked inside linebacker in that class, and 21st overall recruit in the state of Illinois.

Uniform History: There really hasn't been a lot of varsity players at BC they have worn the #48. The oldest known player to wear the number was Paul Raftery a guard out of South Boston in 1928. Ryan Utzler, BC's fullback from 1998-200 wore the number. Most recently linebacker Tyronne Pruitt wore it from 2004-2007.
