Boston College Football Recruiting: Bay State Fence-Building Going Swimmingly

New, 6 comments

Recruiting is looking up in the Bay State.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

In 2012, Boston College football offered 8th of the state's best college football recruits. Just one found his way to Chestnut Hill. This was a bit of a low water mark for the program under the previous coaching staff in terms of bringing local talent to the Heights.

Three recruiting cycles later and Steve Addazio's fence-building efforts in Massachusetts seem to be going pretty well.

Rank Name Pos Location School Stars Ht Wt School
1 Joe Gaziano DE Westwood, MA Xaverian Brothers 3 6'3" 230
2 Chris Garrison TE Groton, MA Lawrence Academy 3 6'4" 215
3 Chris Lindstrom OL Dudley, MA Shepherd Hill Regional 3 6'4" 236
4 Aaron Monteiro OL Brockton, MA Brockton 3 6'6" 308
5 Jake Burt TE Danvers, MA St. John's Prep 3 6'5" 230

Boston College finished with four of the state's 5 top recruits per Rivals, as well as a trio of defensive backs in Lukas Denis, Davon Jones and Taj-Amir Torres. The only real miss in the class is three-star DE Joe Graziano, who committed to Northwestern.

While Rivals.com seems to have lopped off Mass. players ranked 6 through 10 in this year's rankings, making year-over-year comparisons difficult, this is the first time I can recall BC landing four of the top five Bay State recruits. BC made out very well for itself in Connecticut as well this year.
