St. John's (Shrewsbury, Mass.) defensive back Davon Jones is an Eagle! The 5-foot-9, 185-pound local product was one of eight verbal commits back in June, and selects Boston College over a claimed offer from FCS Coastal Carolina.
Must Reads
Even though he appears to be a little undersized at 5-foot-9, Jones is a physical cornerback that isn't afraid to lay the lumber both in the passing game and against the run. From the films I've seen, he is quick to diagnose plays and appears to have good speed.
Boston College graduates Manuel Asprilla this spring, but they should still have John Johnson, Isaac Yiadom and the possible additions of some of the rising sophomores including Allen Dawson. Davon Jones definitely could crack the two deep this year, as many of the corners that came on campus last year did, but if BC can afford to they most likely will redshirt him in 2015.
Here are his highlights via HUDL:
Here are Jones' various recruiting rankings:
- Rivals: Two stars
- Scout: Two stars
- 247Sports: Three stars, rated an 82, 151st best defensive back, 7th best Massachusetts recruit
- ESPN: Three stars, rated a 74, 94th best defensive back, 4th best Massachusetts recruit
