Three-star Stonebridge (Ashburn, Virginia) linebacker Tanner Karafa is officially a dude! The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder has signed with Boston College. At the time of his commitment, he claimed offers from Charlotte, Harvard, James Madison, Kentucky, Old Dominion, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Must Reads
Karafa doesn't seem to have elite speed or size, but he covers for that with what appears to be very good instincts. From his film he strikes me as the type of linebacker that doesn't over-commit on plays, which leaves him in position to make a big play. Intelligence is a good thing; the strength and conditioning coach can work on making him more physical.
BC is losing two of their starters in the linebacking two deep for 2015, with the graduations of Sean Duggan and Josh Keyes. However, there are multiple players around with experience that will be around to fill those roles, including Mike Strizak, Steven Daniels, Tim Joy, Connor Strachan, and Christian Lezzer. Karafa looks like a work in progress, and may take some seasoning at the college level before he is ready to start. He may crack the two deep this year, but I would expect him to redshirt in 2015.
