Jimmy Martin Signs with Boston College, Faxes Letter of Intent

An early signee, looks to fill a hole that BC needs to address.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Jimmy Martin, a linebacker from Orangewood Christian in Maitland, Florida has signed on the dotted line. Martin is actually one of BC's four 2015 early enrollees and already on campus.

The three-star recruit comes to the Heights over claimed offers from Duke, Cincinnati, Eastern Illinois, Florida International, South Alabama, South Florida and Western Michigan. Indiana also had some interest in the Florida native, though right as he verbally committed to BC back in June.

Martin played both sides of the ball in high school, playing both running back and linebacker. He played inside linebacker in HS, and would fit in great in the Josh Keyes/Kevin Pierre Louis role. He's not overly physical based off his highlights, but makes up for it with his speed, which seems to be his strongest suit.

BC is going to have a lot of turnover in the linebacking corp this year with the graduations of Sean Duggan and Josh Keyes. However, Tim Joy, Connor Strachan, Steven Daniels and Mike Strizak all will be back to play this year, plus BC has a few freshmen who didn't see much playing time last season (Ty Schwab and Christian Lezzer). Martin registered early with the Eagles so he will have time to play and practice with the team this spring, so there is a strong possibility that he sees playing time this fall.

Here are Jimmy's rankings:

  • Rivals: Three stars
  • Scout: Three stars
  • 247Sports: Three stars
  • ESPN: Three stars, rated a 75, 41st best linebacker 181st best Florida recruit
