There has been a lot of recruiting activity in the past month, most due to the departure of Don Brown. But with the addition of Jim Reid as DC and reportedly Scot Loeffler on offense, recruiting may pick up again soon. The Dead Period, which forbids most contact between coaches and recruits ends shortly, so let's see some of the moves that may happen.
Who Could Reid/Loeffler Bring With Them?
Looking over the Rivals list of commits for both coaches there are two options, neither I believe BC has a strong chance of landing. Toks Akrinbade, a 3* RB from Indiana committed to Reid and Iowa, and holds a BC offer, but looking at his school list it appears that he is probably more interested in staying at Iowa. For the most part a position player won't change their commitments when a coach that recruits a region leaves.
Scott Loeffler has one recruit, Joshua Jackson a dual threat quarterback, seems intriguing, but my sources at BC say have said all along that BC won't be taking another QB other than Anthony Brown.
Offers Delivered
A handful of recruits went to Twitter to claim offers from Boston College. Two offensive lineman from Grayson, Georgia claimed BC offers. First Will Taylor, a 2017 3* center with offers from Duke, Illinois, UNC and Vanderbilt tweeted out his offer. Almost immediately after, Jalen Jackson an offensive guard also from Grayson received an offer. He has no other offers and no rating right now. Clearly Al Washington has been busy.
Also 2017 offensive tackle Joel Honigford claimed he received an offer from the Eagles. The 3* recruit from Sugarcreek, Ohio also has offers from Duke, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa St and Nebraska
What Next?
Clearly BC is going to have address their lack of defensive backs in this group. After they lost Don Brown, projected defensive backs KJ Gray and Da'vante Cross decommitted, leaving BC with only one possibly DB (Mike Palmer). You have to imagine that the Eagles are going to go hard to fill those slots. Keep an eye out for possible commits at this position before National Signing Day.
Wanted: Running Backs?
BC's depth chart at running back got awfully small with the transfers of Jordan Gowins and Marcus Outlow. Currently BC has Jon Hilliman, Myles Willis and Tyler Rouse on the roster, but two of the three will be gone by 2017. A name to possibly look out for is Tyliek Raynor, a 3* RB from Philadelphia, who recently decommitted from Arizona. He has an offer currently from BC, along with a slew of other schools.
Orange Targeting Kowalkoski?
BC commit OL Tom Kowalkoski received an offer from Syracuse over the weekend. The Detroit native, hasn't acted upon the offer yet, so keep an eye on that.
