Boston College football may have gotten themselves a real special quarterback in commit Anthony Brown. Last week the high school junior was named MVP at The Opening in Ohio. Last night he was named a semifinalist in the Elite 11 competition to be held in Los Angeles.
If you are not aware of the Elite 11, it's a QB competition that is run by former QB and current ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer. Through a series of drills and activities, Dilfer claims he can decide who is going to be a stud in college football and who is not. Jameis Winston was the MVP in 2011, and the competition was also able to predict that Gunner Kiel was going to struggle in college. If anything it helps raise a recruits profile, and could help a school by attracting other high rated recruits who see a blue chip signal caller highlighted on TV/internet.
The Elite 11 is described more in detail in Bruce Feldman's 2014 book "The QB: Making of a Modern Quarterback", a real solid read if you can get over that parts of it reads like a long love poem to Trent Dilfer.
Best of luck Anthony Brown. We will all be rooting for you. Soar!
