Boston College Football Recruiting: LB Koby Quansah Commits To Duke Blue Devils

New, comments

Top Connecticut recruit is heading to Duke.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

It was a busy weekend for top ranked Connecticut recruit Koby Quansah. The 4* linebacker released his top 10 schools on Saturday night. Much to the delight of BC fans, the Eagles made the cut, and were part of a pretty impressive group of schools.

But the news quickly went south (literally, and figuratively) as almost twelve hours later, Koby decided to commit, to David Cutcliffe and the Duke Blue Devils.

Of course this stings as Quansah was arguably the best recruit in all of New England, but you have to imagine that the writing was on the wall after BC got commitments from 2016 linebackers Max Richardson and Ethan Tucky. With a small class of course they probably would have wanted Quansah, but his view might have changed when he saw so many linebackers already taken by the Eagles.

This is the second year in a row that BC struck out with the top rated recruit from Connecticut. Last year they were in DT Christian Wilkins final grouping, but he eventually chose the Clemson Tigers. Not to make excuses but top rated recruits are going to look elsewhere, trying to keep them in the region is a lofty goal, but it is completely natural that they look around. Duke is on a recruiting tear of late as well, which all probably has to do with their success on the field.

Best of luck at Duke, Koby.
