Boston College received yet another verbal commitment, this time from an athlete Jeff Smith of Clearwater Florida.
Honored to say that I have Verbally Committed to play Quarterback at Boston College #TrulyBlessed #BCStrong
— Jeff Smith Jr. (@JSmoothiie) July 1, 2014
Smith is rated a 3* by Rivals, but has yet to receive a rating from 247sports. He also reportedly holds offers from the Indiana Hoosiers, Wisconsin Badgers, Louisville Cardinals, Iowa State Cyclones, along with schools from lower conferences such as Holy Cross, Akron, and Army. He had recently announced his finalists being BC, Wisconsin and Iowa St., the latter two may have been recruiting him as a defensive back.
Smith is listed as an athlete, but as he mentioned all signs point to Coach Steve Addazio utilizing him at quarterback. According to his HUDL page he can run a 4.4 40, so clearly he has good speed. Boston College is in need of some depth moving forward as they only have two QB's on scholarship right now for next year (Darius Wade and James Walsh). They have already added one quarterback in this class dual threat QB Elijiah Robinson, but grabbing two for this class would seem like a wise move for the coaching staff.
Jeff Smith Jr. is recruit #23 of the 2015 class. Welcome to the Heights!
