Rankings: Rivals 3* (2 position, 8 state), Scout 3*, ESPN 3* (82 overall, 42 position, 38 state), 247 Sports 3* (82 overall, 1 position, 77s state). Selected Boston College over Toledo, Air Force, Purdue, Miami (Ohio). Recruited by Sean McGowan.
Strengths: Hard to gauge what a kicker can do based on what he accomplished in college. But based on what the recruiting sites have said you have to be impressed with the accolades that Knoll has been bestowed.
Realistic Outlook: It will be interesting to see what BC does for place kicker and punter in 2014, as outgoing senior Nate Freese filled both of those roles last season. The Eagles have Alex Howell on the roster, and they may have grabbed a walk on with Will Mahar to fill one of the roles. According to the BC website, Joey Launceford and Jake Wilhelm are also listed as kickers. Could Knoll be a punter next season? Or will he take over right away? It's not uncommon for true freshman to start, could we see Knoll start this fall?
