Strengths: Thaddius Smith seems to be the quintessential slot receiver, much like an Alex Amidon and Spiffy Evans. He has good speed, and is deceptively quick off the line. Solid hands, and good route running, most scouts say he is good at a lot of things, but not super at anything in particular. Had a fantastic senior season at Cardinal O'Hara
Realistic Outlook: Smith is an interesting wide receiver for 2014. Boston College clearly doesn't have a lot of depth at wide receiver after losing their only really legit option in Alex Amidon. However, Bobby Swigert and Spiffy Evans both are solid slot receivers who have experience at the college level. On the other hand both have lingering questions with Swigert coming back from a brutal knee injury, and Evans hasn't really shown that he can be a legitimate target as a wide out. If that is the case, could Smith play in 2014? He may be around, so it will be intriguing to see how quickly he picks up the offense. He's a little guy, but looks like a legit threat as a wide out. Plus he's already played with Darius Wade in 7v7 last year, could that chemistry pay dividends in the future?
