James Hendren
Hometown: Brookline, MA
High School: Dexter
Position: Offensive Tackle
Height: 6-foot-7
Weight: 278 lbs.
Twitter: @Jhendren70
Highlights: Hudl
Rankings: Rivals 3* (3 state), Scout 3* (47 position), ESPN 3* (75 overall, 51 position, 5 state), 247 Sports 3* (93 position). Selected Boston College over Penn State, Rutgers, Old Dominion, Yale, Harvard, Massachusetts, Ohio, Princeton and Wake Forest. Recruited by Justin Frye and Kevin Lempa.
Strengths: A huge frame, Hendren looks like he is built to be a BC offensive tackle. It's actually kind of interesting watching his high school film because he appears to be playing with dwarfs. He towers against his opponents and blast defenders five to ten yards down the field. He has good technique, and is quick off the ball which is something you can't teach.
Realistic Outlook: Hendren has major potential moving forward and completely fits the mold of a massive tackle for Addazio's bruising offensive lines. Opposing schools must have seen the same thing, because there was a rush for his services near the end of recruiting season. I imagine at 278 pounds that Addazio is going to want him to fill out more, and also given the opposing talent he played in high school that Hendren will be red shirted next year. However, expect Hendren to be ready to make a contribution in 2015 and beyond. BC should have enough talent on the line next year to be able to let Hendren grow into his frame and pick up the speed of college ball.
