National Signing Day: Quarterback Darius Wade Commits To Boston College

Already signed on early, but let's welcome Darius Wade to Boston College.

Darius Wade

Hometown: Middletown, DE
High School: Middletown
Position: Dual Threat QB
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 185 lbs.
40: 4.58 (According to Hudl)
Twitter: @Therealdwade4

Senior Season Highlights: Hudl

Rankings: Rivals 3* (position 21), Scout 3* (position 27), ESPN 3* (rated a 78, 21 position, 3 state), 247 Sports 3*. Selected Boston College over N.C. State, Bucknell, Delaware, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Syracuse and Temple. Originally recruited by Aaron Smith.

Stats: Finished senior season with 831 rushing yards, 707 passing yards, and 13 total touchdowns.

Strengths: A solid frame, quick and shows good ability to sense pressure and move in the pocket, Wade will be a very different quarterback than BC fans are used to. He has a cannon for an arm, those his spirals aren't the tighest, and he's a lefty. He isn't afraid to use his feet, and has decent speed for a quarterback.

Realistic Outlook: Wade presents an interesting option for Boston College in 2014 and beyond. He's clearly going to be the quarterback of the future, and fits Steve Addazio's mold to a T, but will he start right away? He's green shirted and ready to practice this spring, and could potentially start if Tyler Murphy is hurt or isn't up to snuff. However no matter what happens this year, whether he plays or is redshirted, he will be taking the snaps for the Eagles for seasons to come.
