Steve Addazio and the Eagles coaching staff continues their recent tear on the recruiting trail, picking up the 12th verbal commitment in the 2014 class on Tuesday. Michael Knoll, ranked as the nation's top kicker in the 247Composite, has verbally committed to Boston College, announcing the news on Twitter.

"Boston College University" ... we have some time.
The 6-foot-1, 200 pound specialist from Walsh Jesuit (Stow, OH) chooses Boston College over claimed offers from Purdue, Miami (Ohio), Toledo and Air Force. Rutgers and Ohio State also expressed varying degrees of interest in having Knoll camp with them this summer.
The Eagles' recent commitment is important as BC looks to replace rising senior Nate Freese in 2014. You'll recall that BC's former coaching staff had a verbal commitment from the nation's top ranked kicker a year ago -- Michael Geiger -- only to watch him decommit and instead sign with Michigan State. A year later, the program jumped right back into Ohio to land a verbal from one of the nation's top ranked kicker/punters.
Knoll is ranked as the top (247Composite), second (247 Sports) or third (Rivals) best kicker in the nation, depending on who you ask. He's also a top ranked punter sure to bolster the Eagles' special teams unit. It also doesn't hurt to be a left-footed kicker playing college football on the Heights (Knoll will be a, what, redshirt freshman or sophomore when BC next plays Notre Dame?).

Welcome to the Heights, Mike!
