Boston College Football Recruiting: Mass. RB Johnathan Thomas Commits To Maryland

BC's highly valued recruit has decided to join the Maryland Terrapins.

US PRESSWIRE

Boston College has been pushing hard to revamp their running back corps through the recruiting process. Earlier this offseason they landed highly touted Connecticut running back Marcus Outlow. Today Steve Addazio and the Eagles coaching staff received a bit of bad news when they found out they lost out on St. John's Prep (Danvers, Mass.) RB Johnathan Thomas.

The 5-foot-11, 205 pound running back verbally committed to Maryland today over offers from Arkansas, Boston College, UCONN and UMass.

Rumors had swirled that Thomas was going to the Terrapins, so this wasn't much of a surprise. However this is the first major BC targeted Massachusetts recruit this year that has committed elsewhere. Still think the fence that Addazio is building strong, but this was a major blow. Closing in on Michael Stratchan would really add some stability to that fence.

BC is going to add at least two more running backs in this class. Florida running back Krondis Larry is still a giant question mark, but he could be a great addition to an already strong recruiting class. Plus who wouldn't want a RB nicknamed the Human Jet? Johnnathan Hilliman is still available as well, but he released his top 5 this week and Boston College, not surprisingly, did not make the cut.

Other offers to running backs include Madre London and Taiwan Deal, but neither have been speaking much about Boston College lately.
