Montclair DE Austin Stevens flipped his commitment from #Kansas to #BostonCollege per his coach
— ScoutBrianDohn (@BrianDohnScout) December 28, 2013
Stevens, a 6-foot-4, 220 pound weak-side defensive end / tight end, originally committed to Kansas over claimed offers from Boston College, Massachusetts, Old Dominion, Rutgers and Temple. The Jayhawks lost eight of their final 10 games of the season to finish the year 3-9 (1-8 Big 12). Stevens was originally recruited as a defensive end in Kansas' three-down-lineman system with the possibility of playing linebacker.
Last season, Stevens helped Montclair (NJ) to an undefeated season and the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 5 championship. The defensive end posted 55 tackles and 11.5 sacks while the Mounties D allowed just 4.8 points per game, including six shutouts.
Stevens is a three-star rated recruit per ESPN; two stars from Rivals, Scout and 247Sports. The Montclair native is the 25th member of the 2014 recruiting class and the fifth from the Garden State.
Welcome to the Heights, Austin!
