Boston College Football Recruiting: Former Syracuse TE Louie Addazio Commitment #17

The Syracuse transfer is commitment #17 for Boston College.

USA TODAY Sports

Former Syracuse tight end Louie Addazio is commitment #17 for the Eagles. The 6-foot-3, 245 pound tight end was recruited by the Orange out of Buchholz High School in Gainesville where his father, now Boston College head coach Steve Addazio, was coaching at the time.

Because of injury, he did not play for the Orange. In high school, he was earned Gainesville Sun honorable mention all-area honors as a defensive end in 2009. Used primarily a blocking tight end, he played in two games during his senior season, recording an eight-yard touchdown catch, before missing the remainder of the season due to shoulder surgery. In 2009, had four catches for 60 yards and recorded 18 pancake blocks.

Out of high school, Addazio claimed offers from Akron, South Florida and Syracuse. Addazio will sit out the entire 2013 season under NCAA transfer rules and have two years of eligibility remaining.

Addazio is a big body that can catch as well as block, which should fit in well with his dad's offensive system. Rivals described him as having "a quick burst off the line of scrimmage, keeps his butt low and legs shoulder-width apart and really drives with his lower body to blow defenders off the ball."

Welcome to the Heights, Louie!
