Boston College Football Recruiting: DT Truman Gutapfel Commits To The Eagles

A look at a 2013 BC commit, defensive tackle Truman Gutapfel

Truman Gutapfel

Hometown: Harrison, OH
High School: Harrison
Position: Defensive Tackle
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 250 lbs
40: N/A

Rankings: Rivals 2* (position NR, State NR), Scout 2* (position 105), ESPN 3* (rated a 72, 96 position, 79 state), 247 Sports 2* (rated an 77, position 124 state 103). Boston College was his only offer. Originally recruited by Sean Devine.

Strengths: Watching his videos, Truman looks like he has good strength for his size. His senior highlights show him playing a lot of offensive guard and defensive end, and honestly some of his most impressive plays involve him on offense launching a defensive lineman five yards off the line. Shows good strength and motor.

Realistic Outlook: With his current size of 250 lbs I have a hard time seeing Gutapfel as a ACC ready defensive tackle, he needs to put on a lot of weight to be effective against some of the offensive lines he will see. He looks like he could be an effective defensive end if Steve Addazio needs one. Not sure what BC's plans are for him next year, but he probably will be spending some time on the practice squad.

Highlights: Hudl

Welcome to the Heights, Truman!
