Boston College Football Recruiting: QB Mack Lowrie Commits To The Eagles

A look at a 2013 BC commit, QB Mack Lowrie

Mack Lowrie

Hometown: West Roxbury, MA
High School: Roxbury Latin
Position: QB
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 200 lbs.
40: Unknown

Rankings: Rivals 2* (position NR, State 7), Scout 2* (position 103), ESPN 2* (rated a 69, 77 position, 7 state), 247 Sports 3* (rated an 87, position 32 state 4). Boston College was the only school to offer a scholarship.

Originally recruited by Sean Devine.

Strengths: Lowrie is an intriguing recruit because he has a lot of the qualities Steve Addazio will be looking for in a QB. Although it appears that he is coming from a spread/pro style offense at Roxbury Latin, he shows in his tapes that he has the ability to evade pressure and make throws on the run. Guessing he could transition into Ryan Day's system fairly smoothly. Plus he has a cannon of an arm, which he can unload even on the run.

Realistic Outlook: Obviously Chase Rettig is slotted to start this season, but after this year the starting job will be up for grabs between Christian Suntrup, James Walsh, anyone they recruit in 2014 and Lowrie. His success will be based mainly on how well he can learn the system of offense here at BC. Guessing he will be redshirted in 2013 and ready to go in 2014.
