Boston College Football Recruiting: CB Atem Ntantang Commits To The Eagles

A look at a 2013 BC commit cornerback Atem Ntantang

Atem Ntantang

Hometown: Purcellville, VA
High School: Woodgrove
Position: Cornerback
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 185 lbs
40: 4.5

Rankings: Rivals 2* (position NR, State NR), Scout 2* (position NR), ESPN 3* (rated a 68, 118 position, 49 state), 247 Sports 2* (rated a 78, position 149 state 48). Selected Boston College with no other offers Originally recruited by Al Washington.

Stats: 40 tackles, 1 interception, one punt return for a touchdown (100 yards)

Strengths: Interesting to watch his clips because most of his clips show him blitzing after the quarterback, something I'm guessing Don Brown is going to do a lot of with his high intensity D. He made some big hits, and plays much bigger than 5'11. Would have liked to have seen more film of him in coverage. Also played some running back as well in high school, in an option defense, could he see some playing time on offense in the future a la Will Blackmon?

Realistic Outlook: With the new defensive strategy comes the need for more defensive backs on the field and quick. We may not see so many LB's back in coverage, as we will dime and nickelbacks. This could force a kid like Ntantang into gametime early, especially with our limited depth, and upper classmen with a propensity of getting dinged up.
