Boston College vs. Notre Dame: Which Game Was Your Favorite?

David Gordon? The pass to Tony Gonzalez?

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles are ready to mash with the Fighting Irish on Saturday at Fenway Park. For many BC fans this series has a long history of big games, big moments and even bigger wins. The question this post poses, which game is your favorite?

1993- Boston College 41 Notre Dame 39.

Probably one of the best known games in this matchup. Boston College had not defeated the Irish in this rivalry yet, and ND were on the doorstep of another national title when David Gordon booted home a last second field goal for the miraculous win capping a 22 point comeback.

1999- Boston College 31 Notre Dame 29

Notre Dame needed this game desperately, as a win would ensure a bowl game, but the Eagles had other things in mind. On the arm of Tim Hasselbeck, BC hit two early touchdowns to match ND TD's by Julius Jones and Tony Fischer. Notre Dame missed a crucial extra point later in the second half, and after a Julius Jones punt return touchdown, the Irish failed on the two point conversion. Boston College sealed the win on an interception by Pedro Cirino, giving the Eagles the win and ensuring that the Irish would not go bowling.

2002- Boston College 14 Notre Dame 7

It was a house of horrors for the Irish as their offense was a complete disaster against Boston College. Pat Dillingham threw two interceptions and the Irish fumbled the ball EIGHT times, as the green jerseys gave the Irish no luck. The #5 Irish ended up falling to the Eagles in front of a packed Notre Dame Stadium.

2003 Boston College 27 Notre Dame 25

It was another huge battle between the Eagles and Fighting Irish, as BC roared to a quick 24-6 lead. But BC couldn't hold on to the advantage as the Irish jumped to a lead after Nate Schiccatano blocked a BC punt, which was returned by Carlos Campbell for a touchdown to give ND the lead. But it was BC special teams that came to the rescue, as Sandro Sciortino nailed the go ahead field goal to give BC the win.

2004 Boston College 24 Notre Dame 23

Paul Peterson put on a legendary drive to seal the comeback for the Eagles, as he hit Tony Gonzalez in the end zone to give BC the win. Another game that ND lost due to an special teams blunder, this time another missed extra point.

2007 Boston College 27 Notre Dame 14

At the point where BC was at their prime and the Irish were in the cellar, it was all Matt Ryan who led the Eagles to the victory. Notre Dame benched Jimmy Claussen after BC jumped up to a 20-0 lead, but the back up Evan Sharpley put ND back in the game with two quick TDs. Ryan countered with a touchdown pass to Kevin Challenger to seal the win for the Eagles.

2008 Boston College 17 Notre Dame 0

The last victory against the Fighting Irish for the Eagles. It was all BC's defense who shut out the Irish for the first time in this series.  Chris Crane's touchdown to Ifeanyi Momah was all BC needed to defeat the Irish.
