Boston College vs. N.C. State: Final Thoughts And Predictions

Predictions, final thoughts and more!

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Time to get back to work for the Eagles. The bye week is over, so is the seasons of Bryce Jones, Mehdi Abdesmad and possibly Drew Barksdale. This weekend should be an excellent indicator of what BC team we should expect moving forward. The Wolfpack is a team that has some areas where they should dominate the Eagles, but there are others where BC can exploit. The question going into this game has to be, who's weakness will be the deciding factor?

Big Questions

What will Tyler Murphy look like on the road? Can BC trust him to manage the passing game? Will Josh Bordner have yet another solid receiving games for the Eagles? Who will lead the Eagles in rushing? Jon Hilliman? Marcus Outlow? Willis, or Murphy? Will Sherm Allston be incorporated into the gameplan this week? If so how? Will Bobby Vardaro be back? And if so at 100%? Speaking of Vardaro, how will the offensive line look against a Wolfpack defense that lets up a lot of points? On the defensive side of the ball, how will BC manage the losses of Abdesmad and Bryce Jones? How will John Johnson look as a starting cornerback? Can Josh Keyes have a good game or will he be swallowed up again? Mike Knoll, can you kicker at a rate of higher than 50% successful kicks? If so, the job is yours.

Lingering Questions

N.C State unveiled their new Mr. Wuf helmets for this weekend, I kind of dig them, do you? Will Addazio honestly adjust the offensive scheme...wait why I am asking this? (DONT ANSWER IN THE COMMENTS FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY). How will BC react to a hostile road environment? What NC State team will show up, the one that fought to the end against FSU or the one that got absolutely destroyed by Clemson? Do you think that Will Muschamp will cry himself to sleep when he watches this game?

What To Drink During The First Game Outside Of Massachusetts

ruination ipa

Ruination IPA- Stone Brewing

I have been on a kick lately of non-IPA's but I have to say this is the best IPA I have ever had and it's not even close. One of the knocks on IPA's is that the amount of hops in it can overpower the flavor. This is not one of those IPA's. The taste is incredibly complex, and easily drinkable. It has the hops you would expect in an IPA but also packs a whole bunch more that makes it an IPA that you can drink a lot of without getting bored with the flavor. During the Colorado St game, my father in law brought a four pack of these to the game (pint bottles), even in the extreme heat they were still delicious. However the word is out on Ruination, and they are extremely hard to find. They are a bit pricey too, but if you value flavor, check em out.

Baldwin Jr's Fireside Chat With An N.C. State Fan

Baldwin Jr. sez "HIIIIIII HAY-TERZ!"

Baldwin_medium

Baldwin Jr: CAW CAW! I IZ SO EXCITABLE TO LETS YOU KNOW THAT BAWDWIN JUNYOR IS BACK WITH SOME MORE OF MY PATENTLY AWESOME PREDILICTIONS! TODAY I HAVE A BERRY BERRY SPECUL GUEST TO TAWK BEECEE AND N-CEE STATE FOOTBALL. MY BESTEST BUDDEE TOMMY O'BRIENS!

TOB: Hi, Mr. Junior, I am on a bye week with the Cavaliers this week so I thought I would stop on over and give some thoughts on two of my former teams, the Eagles and the Wolfpack.

Baldwin Jr.: WOWZERS! THIS MUST BE TOUGH FOR YOU MISTER TEEOHHBEE, AS YOU MUST REALLY REALLY LOVES BOTH OF YOUR FORMER SCHOOLS!

TOB: Yes, well you know, I left Boston College because I wanted to go to a true football school with true football fans...and then I left NC State because well....

Baldwin Jr: BECUZ YOU ARE TOTALLY AN AWEEESOME COACH?

TOB: Uh of course. I am the best thing to happen to football since run, run, pass punt!

Baldwin Jr.: CAN YOU TELLS ME HOW YOU MADED THE BESTEST DECISION IN THE WORLD TO START MIKE GLENNON AND LET GO OF DR. DRE HEAD BEATS QB?

TOB: Using my expert analysis and data collection (which I call the good ole' eye balls) I decided that Mike Glennon was a better QB than Wilson, and I stand by my decision.  Can we wrap this up soon, I have to go to Arby's and pick up a sandwich for Mike London. It's part of my new job description.

Baldwin Jr.: OH OF COURSE MISTER BEEOOHHH.

TOB: That is TOB. Well anyways Baldwin Jr. I am going to go with the Wolfpack because honestly I don't understand Addazio's QB running option thing that he does. I find it kind of scary and confusing. I much prefer a solid dose of HB draws that lulls the defense into a coma, and then hit them with the BAM! bubble screen. Woooo doggy.

Baldwin Jr.: WOW YOU MUST BEE ONE OF THE SMARTEST MINDS IN THE GAME BUT THE BAWDWIN JUNYOR IS GOING TO DISAGREES WITH YOU. I THINKS THE BEECEE IS GOING TO WIN WHEN TYLER MURPHY THROWS FOR 400 YARDS ON 20 WHEEL ROUTES TO MYLES WILLIS AND MARCUS OUTLOW! HAVE SHERM ALLSTONS RUN SEAM ROUTES AND SHAKE PHILLIPS NEEDS TO BE OUTS THERE EVERY DOWN. BAD KNEES OR NOTSS! CAW CAW! GOOOOO EEAGLE!

Gametime Song Of The Week

If you don't like my song choice, here is a Youtube Playlist Of The Kinks

Public Enemy- Shut 'Em Down. Easily one of the most influential rap groups of all time, Public Enemy is a group that should be a name even the crustiest anti-rap heads out there knows. Led by Chuck D, hype man Flavor Flav, and DJ Terminator X, this was a group that tore down the walls of what defined hip hop and added a whole political flair to everything they rapped about. True Flavor Flav was a freaking lunatic and wore a giant clock around his neck, yet the rest of the group was as raw as it gets, and the Flav remains one of the best hype men in the history of rap music. There is none of that girls, drugs and violence in these rhymes. They are complex, and deep. PE is a group that influenced not only a whole new generation of politically minded rappers, but rockers as well (Rage Against the Machine cites them as a huge influence). And like all good music, Public Enemy transcends time, and still sounds fresh today. YEEEEEAHHHHHHHH BOYYYYY

This song was chosen because BC's defense is going to need to "Shut 'Em Down".

BCI Staff Predictions and GPS

Brian - Blogdad is out in California watching the game. 35-30 BC.

Jeff - Down in South Carolina wheels the real man behind BCI, as we saw this week, Jeff is like the Shakim Phillips of this blog. He may go long periods of time without us hearing from him, but when he gets in it's BAM instant impact. 31-20 BC

A.J - Watching the game, most likely with my inlaws. The key to watching an away game is making it feel like a home game, so of course that means good food (most likely take out calzones), and solid beer. Also, I think Don Brown's defense is going to be exposed again which will lead to another week of people bitching about Ryan Day. 38-28 NC State.

Grant - In Connecticut, most likely at Pepe's, because they will show the BC game right? 27-10 BC.

Joe - Let's be honest, Joe will probably be too busy to watch instead he will be enveloped writing up a very detailed 3000 word summary of BC's power play against Lowell 27-24 BC

Dan - Poor New Guy, getting married in about a month. Days where he can sit around and drink while watching the game are fading fast. 35-20 NC State
