Boston College Football: QB Darius Wade To Miss Season With Broken Ankle

Oof

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Last night Darius Wade left the game with assistance and today Boston College released the news we all feared. The sophomore signal caller is out for the season after breaking his ankle against Florida State in the second half. This isn't too big of a surprise as head coach Steve Addazio reported last night that the news didn't look too good.

SI's Pete Thamel reports a few interesting nuggets to consider given this injury. One, that Darius Wade could possibly apply for a medical hardship waiver, therefore preserving his year of eligibility. Wonder if not really playing against Howard would help his case. Secondly, according to Thamel is appears that true freshman Jeff Smith will be in line to start against NIU. Smith, who most likely will operate under an option offense, played against FSU last night

Obviously we wish the best for Darius Wade, it was a tough year for the young signal caller, who had flashes of precision and poise against Maine, but struggled against the much stouter FSU Seminoles. Wade finished his season going 21-42 for for 235 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

All of us at BCI wish him a quick recovery.
