For weeks now it has been assumed that former Temple DC Chuck Heater would become the new BC defensive coordinator replacing Bill McGovern. But according to Bruce Feldman, Steve Addazio is making a big splash and moving in a different direction:
UCONN's Don Brown will become the new DC at Boston College, per a source. Really good hire by Addazio.

Rather impressed by this move by Addazio as Don Brown brings a great new vision to the defense. He is originally from Massachusetts, so he fits the mold of a local guy. He has no Spaziani ties -- which again is a plus -- and has a lot of experience in the Northeast as head coach of UMass. During the 2012 season Connecticut ranked 10th overall in total defense, while allowing 310 yards per game, and 23rd in points allowed (19.83). It would be nice if Brown is given a new position staff to work with as well.
Now the question remains, will there be a role on the staff for Chuck Heater and/or Bill McGovern? Heater may have other options elsewhere where he can stay at his current role and McGovern may explore other options as well. But for now, as fans clamor for new blood at Boston College, they got what they wished for. Hopefully Don Brown will step in and return the Eagles to their former excellence on the defensive side of the ball.
