Todd Cunningham, the former editor of the 247 Sports Cincinnati Bearcats affiliate site, is reporting that Boston College has entered the Butch Jones sweepstakes.
I am told contact has been made between Boston College and Butch Jones.

Cincinnati's head coach has been a popular guy the past few days. His name was linked to the opening at Kentucky, reportedly turning down the Wildcats. Jones has also been linked to the vacant Purdue and has been offered a contract, according to IndyStar.com. Rumors have Jones taking the Boilermakers top spot as early as Sunday.
On Thursday, the Denver Post's Woody Paige linked Jones to the Colorado head coaching search. One unnamed A.D. told Paige: "On a scale of one to 10, Butch is an 11. A lot of schools are going after Butch because he's a special coach."
This season, the Bearcats are 8-3 and can capture at least a share of the Big East football title for the fifth time in eight seasons since BC left. Jones, who took the reins at Cincinnati for now Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, went 10-3 in 2011 and 4-8 in 2011. In three seasons at Central Michigan, Jones compiled a record of 27-3, including a 20-3 mark in MAC play and an 11-2 overall record in 2009.
Conveniently, Jones will be in East Hartford this weekend for the Bearcats' regular season finale vs. Connecticut.
