The debacle of last weekend has far-reaching impacts as the second half of the season dawns on the horizon. As BC gets set to take a trip down to Death Valley to take on the fifth-ranked Clemson Tigers, the home team's been installed as 16.5 point favorites by the majority of betting outlets as of Sunday night.

BC remains middle of the pack when it comes to the point spread, having gone 2-4 this year against the spread, though they lost their only road game when they went to Duke and failed to cover. Clemson, meanwhile, is around the same, having gone 3-2 against the spread after covering last week's seven point favorite over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Like so many other teams they've played this year, Boston College is an extremely tough out when playing against Clemson, having lost by more than 14 points only twice since joining the ACC in 2005. Perhaps most surprising, that loss cmae back in 2011, when the Eagles dropped a 36-14 decision down in South Carolina.

Although BC's offense is worse than anemic at this point, the defense remains one of the most stout in the nation. They enter Saturday's game having not allowed a touchdown in 10 straight quarters.
