Boston College Football: 2016 Spring Football Roster Updates

Who won't be returning to the Heights in 2016?

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Since the end of the 2015 season there has been a lot of movement on the Boston College football roster, both in terms of players and staff. Of course we know that defensive coordinator Don Brown is heading to Ann Arbor to head the Wolverines' D, but Kevin Lempa will be the new Hawaii D coordinator and special teams coordinator Coleman Hutzler took a similar position with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

BC released their spring roster, which answers some questions on who has left and who is returning. The one piece it is missing are the early enrollees, at this point sounds like QB Anthony Brown and 4* LB Ethan Tucky. Let's see what players will not be returning to the Heights in 2016.

Marcus Outlow - RB - Junior: This isn't really news, as he declared he was leaving BC right after the season ended. If social media is to be believed it appears he is heading to Coastal Carolina to play. Word was he was not happy with his playing time with the Eagles, and he was mysteriously benched multiple times to end the season. He finished his career at BC with 489 yards of rushing.

Sherm Alston - WR - Junior: Another departure we knew about. Alston had a big play against USC that cemented his legacy in BC lore, but this season was a whole other story. He hardly saw the field, struggled on punt returns, and teams honed in on the end around every time he touched the ball.

Jordan Gowins - RB - Sophomore: A case of fumble-itis got Gowins apparently in Addazio's doghouse as he coughed up a big one against Virginia Tech, and then never saw the field again. He finishes his BC career with 43 yards on 11 carries.

Harrison Jackson - WR - Senior: It's been a rough go for Jackson who's progression was derailed by injury. He returned in 2015, but his role was very limited, only grabbing two catches for 43 yards.

Frank Taylor - C - Senior: Filling Andy Gallik's shoes was certainly going to be no picnic, but Taylor really struggled to start the 2015 season. Eventually replaced by Jon Baker at the position, Taylor will be looking for one more season of eligibility in 2016.

Chase Pankey - WR - Freshman: Part of Addazio's 2015 recruiting class, he never saw the field.

Allen Dawson - CB - Redshirt Freshman: Also never saw the field, injured in 2014.

Tim Joy - LB - Senior: Another player that returned from an injury, was listed on the two deep at different times during the season, but according to Media Notes, he didn't appear to play.

Malachi Moore - DE - Senior. Was surprised he didn't factor into BC's game plan that much this year, but he must have seen the writing on the wall between Kevin Kavalec and Harold Landry grabbing most of the snaps.
