Boston College Football: Eagles Lose Running Back Jon Hilliman To Broken Foot

Tough loss for the Eagles.

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles received devastating news today as star running back Jon Hilliman has been diagnosed with a broken foot and will be out for the foreseeable future.

This is particularly tough given that BC is struggling to move the ball and on Saturday it was Hilliman who tallied 123 yards who moved the ball the most effectively. Also concerning was that both Marcus Outlow and Myles Willis left the game with undisclosed injuries, leaving the Eagles with only Tyler Rouse as the lone healthy tailback. Will the Eagles burn true freshman Jordan Gowins redshirt to add depth to the running back position? They may need to if either Willis or Outlow miss time. This is the second major injury in two weeks, the other the loss of starting QB Darius Wade who went down with a broken ankle against FSU.

BC hasn't released the severity of the break, but usually in cases like this players miss anywhere from a month to eight weeks. Dallas Cowboy star WR Dez Bryant broke his foot in Week 1 of the NFL season and his return date is up in the air. Clearly we will get more information from Boston College in the next few days, but there is a distinct possibility that Jon Hilliman's year could be done. Then again if BC makes a bowl he could return.

This is tough news, but Jon seems like a tough kid, so best of luck in his recovery.
