With the Duke Blue Devils coming off a huge win over Georgia Tech and sitting at 3-1, expectations are surging for David Cutcliffe's team. Those expectations are reflected in the opening line to Saturday's game between the Eagles and the Blue Devils, which installed Duke as a 6.5-point favorite. Based on the link it looks like the line has also moved slightly in Duke's direction, with some books showing them as 7 point favorites as of now.
With BC going on the road for the first time all season, and with the offense facing serious uncertainty and issues, the consensus now seems to be that a game that initially looked like a toss up is now looking more like a game where BC is a somewhat clear road underdog. Of the three BC games with a posted line this year, this is the second in which the opponent was favored.
BC is 0-2 against the spread thanks largely to two late touchdowns. BC lost to FSU by 14 thanks to the late scoop and score by FSU's defense, beating the spread that had settled in at around 7 points. This past weekend, as a 4.5 point favorite, BC seemed to be en route to a double digit win before allowing a kickoff to come back the other way for a touchdown, which led to a three point final margin.
Do you think BC is overvalued, undervalued, are looked at just right by the oddsmakers heading in to the Duke game?
