A walk on, what will Chapman's role be in 2015?

Name: Austin Chapman

Position: Tight End

Number: #63

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 232 lbs.

Hometown: Atlanta, GA

High School: Westminster

2013 Stats (HS): Served as team captain of his high school team along with Boston College teammates Sam Schmal and Cameron Seward. Played tight end, tackle, and defensive end at Westminster. Also captain of the varsity basketball team and ran track.

2014 Stats: Did not see any game action.

2015 Projections: I haven't heard his name much this summer, and BC has a good amount of tight ends with Tommy Sweeney, Mike Giacone, and Louie Addazio looking to get most of the snaps. At this point I have to imagine that Chapman is a depth player, and someone who probably will be used during practices, and possibly during special teams situations this season.

How'd He Get Here: Austin joins BC as a walk-on from The Westminster School in Atlanta.

Twitter Feed: You can follow Austin on Twitter @ayoungchap88.

Uniform History: Long before Barry Gallup was a member of the athletics department staff, he was one the best receivers in school history. #87 set school marks for receptions (87) and receiving yards (1,325) as well as playing two years of basketball under Bob Cousy. He later served as the program's assistant coach for 20 years (1970-91) and returned to BC in 2000 as assistant athletics director for football operations. Other notable #87s include E Joseph Lukis (1962-63, captain in 63) and E Dick Capp (1963, 65, played in Super Bowl I for the Packers). Malachi Moore still wears #87 on the defensive side of the ball.
