The Vegas insiders have come out with their first set of odds for 2015 conference champions, and let's just say the odds are not in BC's favor. According to SBNation, the Boston College Eagles have +3000 odds, which are only better than the Syracuse Orange and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Let's look at what the odd makers are laying out:
Team | Odds |
Clemson Tigers | +250 |
Florida State Seminoles | +300 |
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets | +400 |
Duke Blue Devils | +800 |
Louisville Cardinals | +800 |
Virginia Tech Hokies | +800 |
N.C. State Wolfpack | +1000 |
Miami Hurricanes | +1500 |
Pittsburgh Panthers | +1500 |
North Carolina Tar Heels | +2000 |
Boston College Eagles | +3000 |
Virginia Cavaliers | +3000 |
Syracuse Orangemen | +6000 |
Wake Forest Demon Deacons | +6000 |
The odds makers seem to be a little hesitant to pick an overwhelming favorite near the top as Clemson, FSU and Georgia Tech are all pretty similar in odds. The loss of Jameis Winston from FSU and the rise of the young dynamic QB DeShaun Watson have to be one of the major reasons Vegas is leaning towards the Tigers. The Coastal Division odds are also a little more favorable because other than the Yellow Jackets the division is not as top heavy and anyone can win. Though I don't understand Vegas's fascination with Virginia Tech, a team that has underperformed for the past two seasons.
Boston College certainly will have their work cut out for them if they want to win the ACC, with games on the road against Clemson and Virginia Tech and a cross divisional game against Duke. All of this with a new quarterback and revamped offensive line. But then again Steve Addazio has shown a flair for the dramatic, anyone out there willing to take a chance on the Eagles?
