According to ESPN.com, the sports books that have posted lines so far for Saturday's BC vs. Virginia Tech game have installed the Hokies as slight favorites. Two of the books say VT by 2.5 and another has the Eagles as 3 point underdogs.
The Hokies are now 3-5 following Saturday's wild 45-43 loss to #18 Duke. Virginia Tech was oddly actually slightly favored in that game by oddsmakers (hooray for brand names!), so they also fell to 3-5 against the spread, including a 2-3 mark at home.
BC managed to cover against Louisville on Saturday and as such improved to 5-4 against the spread.
The over/under has not been posted yet, but it should pose an interesting challenge; Virginia Tech's offense has been pretty solid this year, scoring 31.1 points per game (good for 6th in the ACC). However, we all know about BC's challenges on offense and prowess on defense. BC's defense remains #2 in the country; Virginia Tech's is #42.
This will probably end up being another close game; 2.5 is about the correct spread in favor of VT based on the Sagarin rankings. If BC's going to break their losing streak and inch back toward .500, they're going to need to do what they haven't been able to do in weeks: make a big play on offense to seal the game. Can they do it?
