Name: Darius Wade
Position: Quarterback
Number: #4
Year: Freshman
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 199 lbs.
Hometown: Middletown, DE
High School: Middletown
2013 Stats: He threw for 2,200 yards and 27 touchdowns as a junior. He also threw just one interception in 2012 while adding 500 yards and seven TD's on the ground. He exceeded that in his senior year, accounting for over 35 touchdowns. In a game against Newark (DE), Wade threw touchdown passes of 42, 48, 52, and 52 yards.
2014 Projections: It depends if Wade plays or not. It looks like Murphy is the front runner to get the job as a fifth year senior transfer from Florida, but there's a chance we do see Wade in some circles. We know Steve Addazio isn't going to throw an unprotected, under-developed quarterback to the wolves like certain former head coaches did, so it's possible the freshman redshirts and learns the offense. Wade is the future moreso than the present.
How'd He Get Here: Boston College beat out six other schools for D-Wade's services, including N.C. State, Nebraska, Syracuse, Temple and UMass. He's an early enrollee and already practicing with the team. Recruited by OC Ryan Day.
What'd Recruiting Sites Say: Scout.com had him at three stars, as did Rivals. 247 Sports had him as the 25th rated QB in the nation and graded him high for elusiveness, footwork, and pocket presence. They gave him a 7 for intangibles. He will be slightly undersized though, grading out a 5.

Tweetable: Nope. It's a protected account.
Uniform History: Medford's own Harry Downes wore the #4 jersey as a center on the 1929, 1930 and 1931 teams. As did good ol' Francis Elbery of Brighton before him (1921-24) ... and HB Frank Hanlon before him (1916). The #4 jersey hasn't seem much use over the program's history. Donnie Fletcher was a four-year letterwinner at cornerback from 2008-11, serving as captain his senior year. Arguably the most famous #4 in program history is WR Kenyatta Watson, a four-year letterwinner out of Boca Raton.

What Does Addazio Think Of Him: "Darius [Wade] is a really talented, young player who came here mid-semester. We just think his future here is outstanding. He'll be a guy that will be able to contribute this year for us. He's got a great future and he's a heck of a player."
