Each week, the BCI staff writers and other Boston College football prognosticators secretly convene in a cigar smoke-filled bunker deep underneath Alumni Stadium, tasked at ranking the ACC's best college football programs on a weekly basis.

6. North Carolina Tar Heels
7. Duke Blue Devils
8. Miami Hurricanes

1. Florida State Seminoles (11-0, 8-0 ACC)
Last week: Defeated Boston College, 20-17
This week: Florida
Previous rank: No. 1 (--)
Highest position: 1
Lowest position: 1
The Seminoles are a game away from their second straight perfect regular season. Florida State has picked up every first place vote from start to finish this year.
2. Georgia Tech (9-2, 6-2)
Last week: Idle
This week: @ Georgia
Previous rank: 2 (--)
Highest position: 2
Lowest position: 3
The Jackets had the week off to prepare for Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate vs. Georgia. A win in this game would go a long way to holding off Louisville and Clemson for the ACC's Orange Bowl bid.
3. Louisville Cardinals (8-3, 5-3)
Last week: Defeated Notre Dame, 31-28
This week: Kentucky
Previous rank: 3 (--)
Highest position: 2
Lowest position: 4
The Cardinals are the latest team to knock off free-falling Notre Dame. Louisville is a 13-point favorite this weekend vs. Kentucky. The Cardinals are playing for bowl positioning and to keep pace with Georgia Tech and Clemson for the ACC's Orange Bowl berth (assuming Florida State makes the playoff).
4. Clemson Tigers (8-3, 6-3)
Last week: Defeated Georgia State, 28-0
This week: South Carolina
Previous rank: 4 (--)
Highest position: 3
Lowest position: 4
Clemson made quick work of Georgia State, blanking the Panthers 28-10. The loss was Georgia State's 10th straight after starting the season with a win. Clemson hosts South Carolina in the Palmetto Bowl and will try to gain ground on Georgia Tech for the ACC's #2 spot in the College Football Playoffs.
5. Boston College (6-5, 3-4)
Last week: Lost to Florida State, 20-17
This week: Syracuse
Previous rank: 7 (up 2)
Highest position: 5
Lowest position: 7
Sup, dudes!
6. North Carolina (6-5, 4-3)
Last week: Defeated Duke, 45-20
This week: N.C. State
Previous rank: 8 (up 2)
Highest position: 5
Lowest position: 8
Carolina is rolling, fresh off a 45-20 beatdown of their Coastal Division, Tobacco Road rivals. With a win over in-state rival N.C. State in the finale, North Carolina will finish second in the Coastal to Georgia Tech...just as everyone predicted just a few weeks ago.
7. Duke (8-3, 4-3)
Last week: Lost to North Carolina, 45-20
This week: Wake Forest
Previous rank: 6 (down 1)
Highest position: 6
Lowest position: 8
Duke's stock has dropped considerably over the past few weeks—from in the driver's seat for a second consecutive Coastal Division title to finishing .500 against division opponents. The Blue Devils will try to rebound this weekend as they host Wake Forest.
8. Miami (6-5, 3-4)
Last week: Lost to Virginia, 30-13
This week: Pittsburgh
Previous rank: 5 (down 3)
Highest position: 6
Lowest position: 10
Like Duke, Miami's stock has similarly plummeted after back-to-back losses to Florida State and Virginia. A loss this weekend, combined with a Virginia Tech win would put the Hurricanes in a three-way tie at the bottom of the Coastal Division. Yeesh.
9. Virginia (5-6, 3-4)
Last week: Defeated Miami, 30-13
This week: @ Virginia Tech
Previous rank: 12 (up 3)
Highest position: 8
Lowest position 10
Curiously, the Cavaliers are gonna give Mike London another year, so last week's victory over Miami may have been the result London needed to keep his job. Maybe a stay of execution is just what Virginia needed to knock off the Hokies for the first time in over a decade.
10. Pittsburgh (5-6, 3-4)
Last week: Defeated Syracuse, 30-7
This week: @ Miami
Previous rank: 10 (--)
Highest position: 9
Lowest position: 10
A resounding win over Syracuse wasn't enough to improve Pitt's positioning this week as the Panthers are in the 10 spot for the second straight week. The Panthers need a win at Miami in the finale or Pitt's season is over.
11. Virginia Tech (5-6, 2-5)
Last week: Lost to Wake Forest, 6-3 (2OT)
This week: Virginia
Previous rank: 9 (down 2)
Highest position:11
Lowest position: 13
Takes a special talent to play in the FBS's first scoreless game after regulation in nine seasons. Godspeed, Frank Beamer.

12. N.C. State (6-5, 2-5)
Last week: Idle
This week: @ North Carolina
Previous rank: 11 (down 1)
Highest position: 11
Lowest position: 12
The Pack had the week off to prepare for the finale against in-state rival North Carolina. N.C. State has lost five of seven after feasting on cupcakes and starting the season 4-0.
13. Wake Forest (3-8, 1-6)
Last week: Defeated Virginia Tech, 6-3 (2OT)
This week: @ Duke
Previous rank: 14 (up 1)
Highest position: 12
Lowest position: 14
Wake Forest isn't last! Wake Forest isn't last! Do you believe in miracles?
Also, check timestamp.

14. Syracuse (3-8, 1-6)
Last week: Lost to Pittsburgh, 30-7
This week: @ Boston College
Previous rank: 13 (down 1)
Highest position: 13
Lowest position: 14
The 'listless' Orange fall to the bottom of this week's rankings...just in time for the #OrangeEagle showdown with Boston College. I don't like it. I don't like it one bit.
