Boston College Women’s Hockey continues to be well-represented with USA Hockey. Team USA announced on Friday the selections to this year’s National Team Selection Camp, and the roster includes a total of six Eagles — three current and three former. The BC players selected are:

F Hannah Bilka ‘23
D Cayla Barnes ‘22
F Kelly Browne ‘22
D Kali Flanagan ‘19
D Megan Keller ‘19
F Alex Carpenter ‘16

The graduation years for the current students are subject to change since playing in the Olympics pushes back your graduation year, and also, who really knows which year anyone is going to graduate now with the whole COVID eligibility things and whatnot...

There are 40 names on the roster, which will be trimmed down to 28 players who will centralize for the year leading up to the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. That means that if Bilka, Barnes, and/or Browne make that roster, they’ll be playing for Team USA instead of Boston College for the 2021-2022 season trying to bring Olympic gold back to the Heights.

Barnes, Flanagan, and Keller were each part of the gold-medal winning team at the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang. Alex Carpenter was widely seen as an inexplicable omission from the 2018 roster, so she’ll have some extra motivation to make the squad this time around.

Bilka and Browne would both be first-time members of the US Olympic Team, and in fact it would be their first selections to the senior national team should they make the final cuts. They each have plenty of experience representing the United States, though, as U18 gold medalists in 2018.

Camp takes place June 1st through June 6th, with the 28 players selected for residency being announced by the end of June. Congratulations to all six Eagles as they look to earn a spot on the US National Team!
