Six Eagles Named To USA Hockey National Women’s Festival

The six Americans will join three Canadians vying for a spot on their respective national teams

Boston College Women’s Hockey continues to have its players recognized as the best in the world by national team programs.

After Hockey Canada last week named three current Eagles to its national team camp this summer, six additional Eagles were named to USA Hockey’s side of the camp on Friday. American Heroes Cayla Barnes, Megan Keller, and Kali Flanagan, who earned gold with Team USA at the PyeongChang Olympics, will be joined by current Eagles Caitrin Lonergan and Makenna Newkirk — two of the top 6 scorers in NCAA women’s hockey last season — as well as goaltender and all-time NCAA women’s hockey wins leader Katie Burt ‘18. This is the second time these six players participated in the camp, as they all attended in 2016, prior to the selection of the Olympic pool.

The six Americans are among 75 of the top players in the country named to the camp, with the pool of players being narrowed down to two 22-player rosters that will play in pair of series against Canada in mid-August.

Congratulations to Cayla, Megan, Kali, Caitrin, and Makenna as they look to represent Team USA later this month!
