After a weekend to forget for the Boston College Eagles to open the season, the Eagles left nothing to chance in their home opener.

The Eagles used a strong first period to power past the Syracuse Orange in the team’s home opener in Chestnut Hill, giving the Eagles their first win of the season.

Caitrin Lonergan opened up the scoring after having an injury derail her effort last weekend against Minnesota Duluth. She finished the day with that goal and an assist on Makenna Newkirk’s third period goal.

The day, however, belonged to new transfer Lindsay Agnew, who picked up her first goal for the Eagles, and also added two assists to her name.

Newkirk also had a comparable day. In addition to her third period goal, Newkirk picked up two assists on the day to help power the Eagles past Syracuse.

Upcoming, the Eagles will take on No. 10 St. Lawrence in Chestnut Hill Thursday night and Friday afternoon.
