Boston College Women’s Hockey added to its coaching ranks on Tuesday with the signing of Courtney Sheary as assistant coach. Sheary replaces former assistant Gillian Apps, who has gone back to Dartmouth, her alma mater, to enroll in business school, per BCEagles dot com.
Sheary has six years of coaching experience, including 5 as head coach of high school powerhouse Cushing Academy, and a year behind the bench at Dartmouth.
One potential negative to the hire is that she played for and captained the University of New Hampshire during the Wildcats’ glory days in the late ‘00s, which resulted in plenty of angst and frustration for those of us who were students at the time. Fortunately, when BC Interruption reached out to the women’s hockey program to comment on whether it was still appropriate to make fun of UNH, @BC_WHockey liked our tweet, which we’re going to take as program approval.
We’re joking (mostly), of course. Welcome to the Heights, Coach Sheary!
