Women’s NCAA Hockey Quarterfinals: BC vs. SLU Preview, Game Time, How To Watch, and More

With a spot in the Frozen Four on the line...

Brandon Wu, BC Athletics

Single elimination hockey is the best. In women’s hockey, with an 8 team tournament, that means you just need to win 3 to take home the big prize.

It also means you just need to win one game to make it to the Frozen Four. And thanks to a thrilling weekend in which the Eagles took the Hockey East semifinals in 2OT, took the championship game in overtime, and got some help elsewhere in the Pairwise, BC has itself a home game with a trip to St. Charles, MO for the Women’s Frozen Four on the line.

#4 Boston College (27-5-5, 17-4-3 WHEA) vs.
#5 St. Lawrence Saints (26-5-4, 16-3-3 ECAC)

Date: Saturday, March 11th, 2017

Time: 1pm ET

Venue: Conte Forum, Chestnut Hill, MA

Live Stream: (FREE)

Following Along on Twitter: We’ll have full coverage at @BCInterruption. And for the first time all season, the whole BCI hockey crew will be at the game: follow along with @joegrav, @arthurbailin, @laurbear90, and @Salzano14. And of course, don’t forget the official @BC_WHockey twitter account.

Last Time Out: BC won a thriller against Northeastern by a score of 2-1, in overtime, to claim the Hockey East championship. St. Lawrence fell in the ECAC semifinals to tournament runner-up Cornell.

Big Questions: Can BC stop the monster SLU top line of Miller/Webster/Marchment? Will Megan Keller break anyone? Will BC have a full roster again? Will I almost get assaulted by a drunk parent again like the last time BC hosted SLU in the NCAA tournament? Will TeamOps prevent that from happening? With the students on break, will there be a band? Has St. Lawrence truly fallen back to earth from their hot start to the season? Will the fact that BC has not played a single NCAA tournament team this season hurt them? Will St. Lawrence lose their first road game of the season?

Game Day Snack: Large steak, mushrooms & onions, extra cheese, chipotle

Or your combination of choice, although I maintain that this is the way to best optimize your rapidly approaching Death By Trans Fats thanks to a BC Cheesesteak.

There is truly no better day on campus for a BC hockey fan than this. This is the last home game of the year for the women’s hockey team — an NCAA tournament game with a berth in the Frozen Four, to boot — and (hopefully!) the last home game of the year for men too as they play for a spot at the TD Garden for the Hockey East semifinals. The women play at 1pm, and the men play at 7pm, giving you plenty of time to hang out in the cheesesteak line as the proverbial meat to your hockey bread.

Go grab one between games. That’s what I’ll be doing.

Game Day Song: Hamilton Soundtrack, The Room Where It Happens

When you got skin in the game, you stay in the game
But you don’t get a win unless you play in the game
Oh, you get love for it. You get hate for it
You get nothing if you wait for it, wait for it, wait!

One win to the Frozen Four. Three wins to a national title.

Let’s go Eagles!
