There are a lot of Eagles on the USWNT

Team USA’s women’s hockey team already had plenty of maroon and gold when the initial roster was announced in May. Current students Kali Flanagan ‘19 and Megan Keller ‘19 joined alumnae Emily Pfalzer ‘15 and Alex Carpenter ‘16 on the roster, which was expected to shrink, not grow, between then and the final cuts leading up to the PyeongChang Olympics.

A month ago, a fifth Eagle, freshman Cayla Barnes, was added in a surprise roster shakeup.

But apparently, Team USA didn’t feel like there were quite enough Eagles on the national team roster trying to make it to PyeongChang. Monday morning, USA Hockey announced that Haley Skarupa ‘16 (as well as defenseman Sidney Morin of Minnesota-Duluth) were added to the national team roster in another roster shakeup. That makes it six Eagles on the national team roster, all of whom have a strong chance of making final cuts.

Skarupa (as well as Barnes) were each seen as two of the last players cut from national team training camp prior to the original announcement, so it’s no surprise to see them back in the mix with USA Hockey looking to add some competition for the final roster.

Congratulations to Haley, and all six Eagles on the roster, as they look to play in PyeongChang!
