Boston College Men’s Hockey Roster Countdown: #6 Cade Alami

One of BC’s freshman defenders is a big man

John Quackenbos, BC Athletics

Name: Cade Alami

Position: Defense

Year: Freshman

Number: #6

Height: 6’ 7”

Hometown: Bedford, NY

Previous Stats: None. My man is a freshman. Welcome!

Before BC: Alami played 16 games for the Jersey Hitmen, going 1-4—5 in those games.

Season Outlook: Alami was listed as the extra defender on the line chart in the preseason exhibition game against AIC. That’s not a huge shock, as the transition to the college game tends to be a little tougher for defensemen than forwards. He’s a big man — the tallest player on the Eagles’ roster, at two inches taller than Patrick Giles — so he’s definitely got the physical build of a guy who can help with a huge Zdeno Chara-like reach.

He should really benefit from his time in a college weight room, as at 6’ 7” 197 lbs. he’s got the frame around which you can build a pretty sturdy defender.

Fun Fact: Cade’s BC bio notes father Mehdi played tennis for Boston College — but you might also be interested to know that his grandfather Gary Larsen was part of the Minnesota Vikings’ Purple People Eaters.
